Put £100 into a slot rated 96% and you won’t get £96 back. Not tonight, anyway. That is the most common misreading of return to player, and it’s worth clearing up before talking about which casinos carry the games above that mark.
RTP is a long-run average, calculated across millions of spins. A 96% game is designed so that, over that enormous sample, it pays out £96 for every £100 staked. Any single session can land well above or below. So why does 96% get so much attention? Because it has become the informal dividing line in UK slots: plenty of popular games are released at or near it, and many studios also make lower-return versions of the same title for operators to choose from. Clearing 96% is a quick shorthand for “this version was built on the more generous side”.
The good news is that you never have to guess. The Gambling Commission’s remote technical standards (RTS 3) say the return to player percentage “must be easily available before the customer commits to gamble”, with the stated aim of letting customers make informed decisions based on their chances of winning. Every licensed site below has to show it. Some just make it far easier to find than others.
1. Which Casino Makes the 96% Check Quickest? MrQ
Want proof rather than promises? Open any slot page on MrQ and the RTP sits right there in the game details, then again in a short FAQ that spells out what it means. The Razor Shark page, for instance, gives 96.7% and describes it as “the return you can expect to receive back over a long period of play”. No login, no digging through a help menu.
That makes it simple to build a list of games over the line. On MrQ’s own pages:
- 1429 Uncharted Seas (Thunderkick) clears it comfortably at 98.50%, the highest figure we found on the site.
- Jammin’ Jars at 96.83%, Razor Shark at 96.70% and Fat Rabbit at 96.45% give Push Gaming a clean sweep of three.
- Money Train 2, the Relax Gaming sequel, sits at 96.4%.
- Las Vegas Joy (96.05%) and Book of Dr. Acula (96.02%) both edge over too, and these two come from Goosicorn, the studio MrQ built in-house in 2022.
That last pair matters more than it first looks. Goosicorn games are made for MrQ and played only on MrQ, so there is no second casino to cross-check against. The figure on MrQ’s page is the definitive one, and it is published openly.
The rest of the experience is built for players who like to know exactly what they’re getting. Licensing comes through Tek Fox Ltd, Gambling Commission account 60629, covering remote casino and bingo. There are 900+ games across studios such as NoLimit City, Hacksaw, ELK Studios and Big Time Gaming, and MrQ describes itself as the EGR Slots Operator of the Year for 2021.
Promotions carry zero wagering, across the board. New UK players aged 18+ who make a first deposit of £10 or more get 100 free spins on Big Bass Splash, each worth 10p, to be used within 48 hours. Nothing won from those spins needs to be played through, and there is no cap on winnings, which land in your real money balance. (The offer excludes customers in Northern Ireland.) After that, Friday Night Frenzy drops 1.5 million free spins every Friday at 5pm with no opt-in, and the app-only Arena ranks players daily by win multiplier rather than stake, so a 10p spin can compete with a £5 one.
Cashing out is quick, and MrQ puts money on it. The site commits to processing withdrawal requests within 60 seconds, and if it misses, it credits you £10 (bank transfer times after processing depend on your bank). Debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and bank transfer are all supported, with no fees for processing deposits or withdrawals. Visible per-game percentages, a solid run of above-96% titles and wager-free rewards: that is why MrQ heads this list.
2. Like Your Bonuses Wager-Free as Well? PlayOJO
Wager-free play is the thing PlayOJO built its name on. Its site promises “No wagering requirements ever, plus all wins from bonuses are paid in cash”, which pairs nicely with a habit of choosing higher-return slots.
The brand runs through Skill On Net Limited, whose UKGC account 39326 lists both of PlayOJO’s web addresses, the .co.uk and the .com, among its registered domains. Its remote casino licence has been active since 2014, and the same account also holds a gambling software licence, which tells you the company builds technology as well as running casinos. The catalogue is large, so the 96% filtering is your job: open the game info and read the figure before you commit. It ranks second because the per-game numbers aren’t presented as upfront as MrQ’s public slot pages.
3. Curious About Las Vegas Flavour? BetMGM UK
Ever wanted to spin a slot named after a Strip landmark? BetMGM’s UK site promotes MGM exclusives including New York New York, Bellagio Diamonds and BetMGM Diamond Steppers, plus live tables streamed from the casino floors of the Bellagio and MGM Grand.
BetMGM UK is operated by LeoVegas Gaming PLC under Gambling Commission account 39198. Its footer gives a registered office in Sliema, Malta, and the same licence holder runs LeoVegas, which comes next. Exclusive titles are a fun reason to visit, and as with Goosicorn games, the casino’s own info screen is the only place to read their return. It sits third because its appeal leans on brand and atmosphere more than on RTP.
4. Prefer a Giant Lobby to Explore? LeoVegas
How big is big? LeoVegas talks about “thousands” of real money games, and its supplier roll includes Push Gaming and Thunderkick, the two studios responsible for four of MrQ’s above-96% picks listed earlier.
Same licence holder as BetMGM UK (LeoVegas Gaming PLC, account 39198), with an app available on iOS and Android. A Top 10 chart and a Newest Games section help you spot what’s trending, and live favourites such as Crazy Time sit in the same lobby. Sheer size is the attraction and also the reason it’s fourth: with so many games, finding the ones over the line takes a little more legwork.
5. After a Specialist Rather Than an All-Rounder? Videoslots
Slots are right there in the name. Videoslots Limited has held a UKGC remote casino licence since November 2014 under account 39380, which adds up to more than a decade under the current UK regime. It’s a natural stop for players who live mainly on the reels, and the register shows the business also holds a linked gambling software licence dating from 2015. It lands fifth mostly because the four brands above gave us more to show you on the 96% question specifically, so make the info panel your first click there.
Quick Questions
Does a slot above 96% pay out more often? Not necessarily. How often a game pays is about volatility. RTP describes the total returned over the long run, so a high-RTP, high-volatility game can still go quiet for a while before a big feature.
Is a slot’s RTP identical at every casino? Not always. Studios frequently supply more than one version, so the same game can carry different figures at different sites. Trust the number shown by the casino you’re logged in to.
Where exactly should I look? Inside the game’s info or help screen, or on the casino’s game page. UK rules require it to be available before you place a bet.
The Short Version
If 96% is your line, pick a casino that shows you the number without making you hunt. MrQ does that on every slot page, carries a strong set of titles above the mark, and lets you keep everything its free spins return. Start there, then use the others for variety.
