There’s no better way to introduce a track than to let its creators do it for you.. So, over to the dynamic duo of Teen Ravine:
We want to get close but not too close – a sentiment that may as well be the hallmark of our generation’s struggle with the desire for and fear of intimacy. Our collaborations were born out of our apartment studios in Toronto in the spring of 2016. We explored themes of emotional alienation through the obsessive intimacy of bedroom recordings, all while aspiring to the west-coast pop/R&B vibe of the late 1970s and early 1980s.
We’re releasing “Bad Dream” to introduce the LP. It’s about seeking comfort and pleasure in sadness. The familiar warmth of our obsessions.
Momentarily inviting your depression to creep into your consciousness for a quick visit, and then getting frustrated when it overstays its welcome and eats all your leftovers. Going against your better judgement and picking at a scab instead of letting it heal. Not being able to turn your brain off at night, letting memories distort and consume you.
Our self-titled, debut LP drops on August 31st. We look forward to sharing it with you.
