Listen: ‘Hey Charli’ by DYSPLAY

LA-based indie pop duo DYSPLAY today released their new single “Hey Charli,” available for streaming & purchase on Spotify, Apple Music, and iTunes. The track is the group’s sophomore release, coming on the heels of their 2017 debut “Long Way to Go.”

Dysplay features Eric Scullin and Devin Hoffman – two young but seasoned musicians who have impressive backgrounds in production, songwriting, and composition. Hoffman may be most recently noted as the touring bassist for AWOLNATION during the height of their massive single “Sail.” Scullin – vocalist for Dysplay – has co-produced and co-written with names like RZA (Kanye West, Earl Sweatshirt) and Mark Needham (The Killers, Imagine Dragons), to name a few. Together, they’ve created an infectious & unique blend of 80s/early 90s vibes in the vein of George Michael and Tears for Fears, mixed with a modern day alt-pop a la Empire of the Sun and St. Lucia. They’re an authentic partnership that openly admits they never work as well without the other, and share a natural symbiosis that elevates their productivity.

“’Hey Charli’ a song about how people have a tendency to hear what they want while perhaps ignoring underlying problems, whether in a relationship, in the news media, or wherever else,” Scullin explains.  “The character of Charli represents a sort of split personality, someone who can deceive and yet be deceived just as quickly. Sonically, we wanted to create a world that the listener enters and exits with musical bookends, where the song can be interpreted a different way with each listen.”

Fans can expect more new music from Dysplay later this summer. For more information on Dysplay, be sure to follow them on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
