L.A. based pop duo Only Bricks have returned with a sparkling new single, “Ordinary.” The track, which follows only a few months since the duo dropped their critically acclaimed debut EP “Foundation,” features a trademark hooky chorus, big enough to catch the attention of teen/pop destination, Teen Music Insider, who had the exclusive. “Ordinary” sees itself as another groove-laden, sugary dose of Summer pop that Only Bricks are quickly becoming recognized for.
“After a certain amount of time in every relationship, the spark you had at the beginning can start to fade out, but this song is a reminder that it doesn’t have to be like that if you put in the effort,” says Anne DiGiovanni. “We’ve always talked about wanting to make sure our own passion stays alive, and writing this song and getting to perform it live helps do that for us.”
To celebrate the release of “Ordinary” the band performed at Bowery Electric in NYC and the Mint in Los Angeles. While in NYC the band stopped by the IHeartMedia offices to perform in their Dunkin’ Donuts Iced Coffee Lounge. Fans can check out the performance here.
Back in April the duo released their debut EP, “Foundation” to critical acclaim. Atwood Magazine called “(Your Love Gets Me) High” a “sunny anthem,” and a “jolly embrace of love’s pure intoxication.” Substream Magazine called lead single “Twisted,” a “pop jam [that] moves and dances with pop sensibility.” Subsequently the EP release saw the band win Best Pop Band in the LA Music Critic Awards for First Half of 2018.
When speaking of the EP lead vocalist Anne DiGiovanni remarks: “These songs are the real stories we lived through as we separately uprooted our lives on the east coast and found each other again in California,” says Anne, “and we can’t wait to share them.”
