Hobart steps up to the plate with an energetic blast of punk rock mayhem in the form of A. Swayze and the Ghosts and their cracking new track Smooth Sailing.
Described by Triple J Unearthed’s Max Quinn as Hobart’s “millennial rolling stones” (probably), A. Swayze & the Ghosts are today excited to share their brand new single ‘Smooth Sailing’. The quartet will be playing a run of shows in their hometown of Hobart, kicking off this weekend, to support the release.
The single was and produced by Chris Wright who co-recorded the track with Jake Long in Hobart at Red Planet Studios. Alex O’Gorman mixed the track, with Aaron Doobs mastering. ’Smooth Sailing’ was the title suggested for this track by a friend named Ivan,” frontman Andrew Swayze says. “Being the thinker that he was, he obviously thought the irony of the title to be comedic, as the subject matter of the song is derived from a time when I was going through a rough patch. The disdain I felt for the people around me had turned to jealousy, and consequently, I’d found myself alienated and no longer living my ‘accomplished’ life. The above point in time is exactly what this song is attempting to reflect.”
A. Swayze & the Ghosts are a punk/garage outfit from Hobart Tasmania with a live show that is at all times raw, energetic and enigmatic. Over the last 12 months They’ve performed at Falls Festival, MONA Faux Mo, A Festival Called Panama, Boogie Festival and By The Meadow as well as guest spots for Batpiss and The Murlocs. A. Swayze & the Ghosts released a 10+ minute belter of a debut single in 2016 titled Reciprocation and are putting the finishing touches on an EP for release late 2017.
The band express their uneasiness with our modern way of life and question the choices we make through their manic stage performance, but aim to connect to the audience through familiar pop sensibilities.
