It’s Official: It is the Highest Grossing Horror Film of All Time

Sorry Father Merrin, Sorry Leatherface, Sorry Baby Damien, Sorry Blair Witch, Sorry Well To Do White People With a Science Lab, Sorry 70s Ghost Hunters, and Sorry Found Footage House Hauntings but Pennywise the Dancing Clown has sauntered his way into the top spot of highest grossing r-rated horror film of all time.

Now with $250m domestically in the U.S. and near $420m globally Andy Muschietti’s It Chapter One has stormed passed title holder William Friedkin’s The Exorcist‘s $236m lifetime gross un-adjusted.

And the good news doesn’t stop there as the film is positioned to pass $300m in the U.S. and, as it goes into weekend 3, It is still going to do north of $30m. Astounding stuff, kiddies, astounding stuff!
