Listen: ‘Fishing with a Shotgun’ by Good Boy

Ain’t nothing like a 2.5 minute sizzler to kick off your week and that’s what local lads Good Boy deliver with their infectious new jam Fishing with a Shotgun.

Infused with vitriol via singer Rian King’s incendiary lyrics, the new single takes aim at Pauline Hanson and right wing politics within Australia. “Fishing With A Shotgun is a dig at the disgusting, spineless leaders that run our country, the dismal state of Australian politics and the gutless idiots too dumb and
stupid to say or do anything,” says King, “It talks about the helplessness felt by thousands of young Aussies.”

Produced and engineered by none other than Tim Fitz (Middle Kids), and mixed and mastered by Mikey Young (Eddy Current Suppression Ring / Total Control), ‘Fishing With A Shotgun’ is a 2 minute 30 second garage punk slap in the face.
It’s been a busy year for the boys, playing Falls Festival to ring in the New Year and a win at the Queensland Music Awards for Best Rock Song of the year with ‘Poverty Line’. The trio also appeared at Blurst of Times earlier this year and in the same month released a split 7 inch with Jarrow (via Barely Dressed Records) before touring the country with them. As if that weren’t enough to pack the first half of 2017, Good Boy jumped on board Skeggs’ sold out tour throughout June and also toured with the likes of The Creases and Japandroids.

The latter half of the year is showing no sign of lost momentum either. Good Boy made their Splendour In The Grass debut last month, playing to a huge crowd, and are currently in the midst of the Grinspoon tour, which sees them playing to over 30,000 people across the country. To cap it all off (so far), the
Brissy trio are joining the Bigsound and Yours & Owls lineups this September.
