Los Angeles delivers again in Trace and her brand new, swooning song Oh My My. The disarming warmth of her soft-sung vocal against a dreamy electronica all wrap together in this digi-lullaby Oh My My.
LA-based indie/electro artist TRACE has released her new single “Oh My My,” the follow-up track to 2016’s Low EP. The track premiered at The Line of Best Fit, who claims, “Here TRACE dials back her sound even further, eschewing much of her throbbing synth work for a more understated atmosphere and recounting the candid details of her days with a voice that is icily pure.”
TRACE enjoyed an extremely successful 2016, having released her debut EP Low, supported Mr. Little Jeans on her first tour, and racking up over 30 million streams on Spotify. Low received rave reviews from sources like NYLON, Fader, Stereogum, Pigeons & Planes, and several others. TRACE just wrapped up a two-week West Coast supporting run with Jai Wolf in April.
“Lyrically, the song is 99% factual and so honest that I finished writing it in 15 minutes,” TRACE explains. “Sonically, I wanted the track to feel easy on the ears because I knew the words behind it would be kind of cutting–in a way I wanted to put the listener in a trance so they would be distracted by what might feel like a lack of empathy. Being wanted is addictive–it’s totally a drug; this song is about that willingness to let someone pour out their adoration, knowing that you yourself have no true interest in them. But I won’t ever stop you and I’ll never lie.”
