Tony Briggs & Robert Connolly’s ‘The Warriors’ World Premieres Thurs @ ACMI!

Tony Briggs? Who’s that? Well, he’s one of the guys behind the hit film The Sapphires… Robert Connolly? Who’s that? Well, he’s responsible for Barracuda, Paper Planes, Balibo, and Romulus, My Father. Put these two industry stalwarts together and you get The Warriors, an AFL based indigenous comedy drama starring pedigree talent Lisa McCune, Vince Colosimo, Reece Milne, Ben Knight, Gordon Churchill, Nelson Baker, and Tasia Zalar. The show is in the can and is set to world premiere the first three episodes this Thursday @ ACMI – check out the presser below!

WORLD PREMIERE OF THE NEW ABC TV SERIES THE WARRIORS
THURSDAY 6 APRIL AT ACMI

The stars of the new ABC Indigenous comedy-drama THE WARRIORS will be at ACMI this Thursday 6 April for an exclusive sneak preview screening of three episodes ahead of its debut on ABC TV on April 12.

Lisa McCune, Vince Colosimo, Reece Milne, comedian Ben Knight and newcomers Gordon Churchill, Nelson Baker and Tasia Zalar will be at ACMI to introduce the screening of THE WARRIORS, together with series creator Tony Briggs, director Beck Cole (episodes 5-6), and Minister for Creative Industries, Martin Foley.

Created by Tony Briggs (The Sapphires) and Robert Connolly (Paper Planes, Barracuda), THE WARRIORS is set in the world of Australian Rules Football. It explores the elite world of professional sport through the eyes of two new recruits – plucked from obscurity to fame and fortune – and two established players as they are thrown together in a share house in Melbourne.

THE WARRIORS screens at ACMI on Thursday 6 April, 7:00pm. Tickets are on sale now.
