Listen: ‘I Want Everything’ by The Dollar Bill Murrays

Brisbane Represent! There’s nothing like some cranking, fuzz busting rock to energise your day and the lads from The Dollar Bill Murrays surely deliver with this ripping new track I Want Everything.

GO, AUSSIE, GO! (Well, ok, the lead singer is a Swede but we’ll take him anyway!)

The quartet have been kickin’ it in the Brisbane ‘burbs since 2015, steadily crafting their irresistible rock blend of Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys, and The Black Keys.

The Dollar Bill Murrays recorded their self-titled debut EP in the December of 2015 at Bedlam Studios with engineer Steve Kempnich and mastering by former Queens of the Stone Age live musician, and member of The Desert Sessions, John McBain.

Premiered by AAA Backstage in April 2016 and rising to #12 on the 4ZZZ charts, their 5-track debut EP ‘The Dollar Bill Murrays’ showcased the band’s natural groove coated with their love affair with gritty and fuzzy rock tones.

Not resting on their laurels, The Dollar Bill Murrays hit the studio in July 2016 with the aim to harness their fuzz-rock influences to forge their own signature sound. Working with Brock Weston in his home studio, the quartet returned to Brisbane with an absolute beast of a track Medicine.

The Dollar Bill Murrays unleashed the fuzz-rocious Medicine, premiered again by AAA Backstage, in August 2016. The song’s thick fuzz licks and mosh-worthy chorus turned plenty of local heads, resulting in the band to filling plenty of Brisbane’s live music haunts over the following months and earning the track continuous rotation on triple j Unearthed Radio.

After the success of Medicine, the quartet decided to work with Weston again, however this time at Studio Circuit at Burleigh Heads on Queensland’s Gold Coast, with mastering by Tyson Ruth. I Want Everything is the first taste of what was captured over five days of recording, during which the whole band
became struck down by “some kind of bubonic plague”. This made recording “a thousand times harder than it normally is”, but in true rock fashion the band powered through to record some seriously scintillating rock

Released on Friday 3rd of March 2017 and premiered by The Music, I Want Everything is about the fear of letting go and being scared of moving on, emphasised in the chorus’ lyrics “Now you’re changing the view, what am I supposed to do? I want everything, to remain”.

The release of new single I Want Everything will be followed by a few more tunes, but The Dollar Bill Murrays are a pretty tight-lipped bunch so make sure you follow the band on social media..

Praise for The Dollar Bill Murrays:

“This is the devil’s music. Clearly he’s got decent taste.” (Dave Ruby Howe, triple j)

“[I Want Everything] is a tight and polished alt-rock ditty that bears no signs of the tumult that marked its creation. Amid the sonic nods to other contemporary alt-rock vanguards such as The Black Keys and Arctic Monkeys, there’s more than enough here to set The Dollar Bill Murrays apart on their own merits as they continue to grow…” (The Music)

“It’s fair to say that [The Dollar Bill Murrays] are the perfect antidote to this incoming miserable winter – it’s laid back, sun drenched psych rock seriously in tune with the beachy, summery vibes we’re craving right now.” (Tone Deaf)

“The Dollar Bill Murrays have expanded their sound with a gritty, fuzz-filled jam that is packed to the rafters with a catchy chorus, squealing guitar, and insane drum fills.” (AAA Backstage)

“When Aloe Blacc once said, “A dollar is what I need” he must’ve been talking about The Dollar Bill Murrays, because you need this band in your life!” (Music Is My Muse)

“Synths and percussion swell up behind the vocals, building into a serious rock song, before dropping back down just to crescendo again. [Medicine] puts you on a battlefield and you’re the one who’s winning.” (Society of Sound)
