I’ll be the first to admit that the Pirates of the Caribbean film series is one I can’t seem to understand how they are so enormously popular. Granted, the original film was a cracking good time but the following 3 sequels were painfully dull, nonsensical messes yet they averaged over $1bn at the global box office apiece.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the fifth instalment, is heading our way in May and the Gold Coast shot adventure comes to us from the directors of Kon Tiki – Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg. Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Kaya Scodelario, Orlando Bloom, David Wenham, Geoffrey Rush, Brenton Thwaites, Keith Richards, and Sir Paul McCartney round out the cast.
Synopsis: Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artefact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.
