As expected La La Land was the big winner of the night taking home Best Cinematography, Original Score, Original Song, Production Design, Best Director and Best Actress. Damien Chazelle is the youngest ever winner of the Best Director Oscar.  BUT….

In the biggest upset MOONLIGHT won BEST PICTURE!! Mahershala Ali wins Best Supporting Actor. He is the first Muslim actor to win a Oscar in the history of the Academy Awards. The film also picked up Best Adapted Screenplay

This year’s Oscars holds a record 5 African American winners in a single year!

Kenneth Lonergan’s Manchester by the Sea picks up Best Original Screenplay and Best Actor for Casey Affleck.

Ezra Edelman’s 7.5 Hour O.J. Made In America wins Best Documentary feature. It’s the longest documentary/longest feature to ever win an Oscar.

Hacksaw Ridge breaks a 21 nomination no win drought for Kevin O’Connell (Sound Mixer) and picks up 2 Oscars for Best Editing and Best Sound Mixing.

Zootopia (Disney) wins Best Animated Feature and Piper (Pixar) gets Best Animated Short, which means Disney wins both! Has there been a year in the last 20 that Disney hasn’t claimed this award?!
