He’s the man behind some of the best cinema to come out of New Zealand with such titles as Boy, What We Do In The Shadows and Hunt For The Wilderpeople under his directorial belt. Currently shooting Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok, Taika Waititi is wasting no time in lining up his next project which is a stop motion animation biopic on late pop star Michael Jackson told entirely from the perspective of his pet chimpanzee Bubbles.
It’s a co-directorial project with Mark Gustafson (co-director of the upcoming Pinocchio with Guillermo Del Toro) which will see the story be narrated by the chimp which will traverse the highs and lows of life with Jackson until the animal was released. The film is affectionately titled Bubbles.
