If you’re not tuned into the Indiewire podcast Shock Waves, you’re really missing out. They produce fantastic interviews with premier media making talent and their most recent outing was with prolific TV producer Bryan Fuller. Fuller, who recently left Star Trek: Discovery whilst still mounting American Gods for Starz, sat down to discuss many a thing and, in doing so, dropped some serious fangeek goodness about his hugely praised and shortlived Hannibal series.
With particular reference to incorporating The Silence of the Lambs into the narrative, Fuller suggests:
“I think, ideally for the cast, it would be as a mini-series, here and there. Let’s do 6 to 8 episodes of that, and 6 to 8 episodes over here. And do it as an irregular thing,”
Given the in-demand nature of Mads Mikkelsen, Hugh Dancy and Laurence Fishburne, it sounds like a much more feasible option than a full blown season. But who would play Clarice Starling? Fuller had earlier expressed his desire for Ellen Page to take on the role that handed Jodie Foster another Oscar.
So, there’s nothing official but it is so refreshing to know that Fuller isn’t done with the story and maybe, just maybe, this is the beginning of something bloody cannibalistically wonderful.
