Without doubt one of the liveliest, upbeat and fun new tracks to check out is guitarist Delicate Steve‘s latest outing Cartoon Rock. 80s 8-Bit infusions, fuzzy guitar licks and an exuberant sense of joyous fun abound in this sub 3 minute sizzler. bonus, it comes equipped with a ridiculously super fun low-fi film clip.
What’s even more surprising is how playful this is, yet it truly does demonstrate some really impressive songwriting skills underneath.. One to watch, people, one to watch!

Formerly signed to David Byrne’s label Delicate Steve has established himself as not only an exciting instrumentalist in his own right – he produced and played everything on the new album – but also a go-to figure for work with artists like Dirty Projectors, tUnE-yArDs, Mac DeMarco, Lee Ranaldo and Built to Spill. You’ll also be hard pushed to find a guitarist that has put records together with Death Grips’ Zach Hill, been handpicked to open a sold out North American tour for Tame Impala, and then provided guitar for Paul Simon’s new record…
Steve’s previous album, 2012’s Positive Force, was awarded a 7.6 by Pitchfork – with 8/10 reviews following at both The Line of Best Fit and Drowned In Sound – each review applauding his “bubbly finesse” and “rainbow-bright beacons of heartfelt experimental pop and rock.” Coming up in UK press we have Q, Mojo, Uncut, Record Collector and more covering the new release.
