Disney/Pixar’s merchandising cash cow Cars is coming back for a third go-round in the imaginatively titled Cars 3. 2006’s Cars took $462m, 2011’s Cars 2 took $562m and in 2017 what will the 3rd outing bring. Interestingly, 47% of the original Cars box office came from international markets outside the U.S., Cars 2 was 65.9% outside the U.S. Bodes well for global play off on the new one. Also, this property earns more money in merchandising than any other Pixar brand so the ancillary fiscal benefits on this are huge!
Brian Fee directs the film with the voice cast of Owen Wilson, Jason Pace and Jose Premole
Synopsis: Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez, with her own plan to win, plus inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage!
