Disney Earns Their Highest Grossing Box Office Year Ever With 2 Films To Go!

2016 is a record breaking year for Disney as they have just pushed past $5.851bn in global ticket sales, surpassing 2015’s record breaking $5.8bn take. Smashing home runs with The Jungle Book ($966.4m), Captain America: Civil War ($1.153bn), Zootopia ($1.024bn), Finding Dory ($1.021bn) and the opening weekend of Doctor Strange ($87m), the studio managed to achieve the $2bn, $3bn and $5bn global gross marker in the fastest time as well. In fact, Disney have the top 4 grossing films of the year internationally thus far and still have Moana and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to go!

The result has certainly buoyed the studio from the disappointments of Pete’s Dragon ($140m), The Finest Hours ($52.1m) and The Light Between Oceans ($15.9m) and the outright bib budget duds of Alice Through The Looking Glass ($299.4m) and The BFG ($242.7m).
