Lost In Space Returning to TV via Netflix

Yep, the good folks down at Netflix are behind the move to bring the 1965 comedy sci-fi series back to screens and, to give the whole thing credentials, they’ve appointed writing duo Burk Sharpless & Matt Sazama (The Last Witch Hunter, Dracula Untold) to script the new series with Neil Marshall (Centurion, The Descent, Game Of Thrones) set to direct and executive produce.

This isn’t the first time the series has been set for a revival. The WB tried to get it going a decade ago under the name The Robinsons: Lost In Space with John Woo attached to direct the series but that fell apart. Prior to that, an attempt was made in 1999 to get it going on TV again but that was terminated after the original star Jonathan Harris, who was set to reprise his role, died.

And let’s not forget, or forget, the 1998 big screen adaptation from Stephen Hopkins that featured William Hurt, Gary Oldman, Matt LeBlanc, Mimi Rogers, Lacey Chabert, Jack Johnson and Heather Graham.
