The Seen & Heard Film Festival celebrates female film makers and their contribution to cinema and moving image arts. For the first time ever, they are rolling out in Melbourne over one glorious weekend from November 13 – 16, 2014 at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI). Showcasing a diverse range of films from celebrated comedies, short films, horror, documentaries and dramas Seen & Heard looks destined to become a permanent fixture on the Melbourne Film Festival calendar.
Curated by Mia Falstein-Rush, you can check out the website here:
Here’s their official synopsis:
Seen & Heard Film Festival aims to redress an industry-wide reluctance to promote female filmmakers and their art. The 2014 program has been curated to encourage greater discussion about women in film and to inspire better female representation in all aspects of filmmaking. Although the majority of filmgoers locally and overseas are female, only 12% of the top 250 films from any country are directed by women. Such imbalance leaves the public with a half-told story and a social and cultural experience severely impoverished; this status quo can only be remedied when all filmmakers are both seen and heard.
Tickets are on sale now via ACMI here
