“Rarely has a movie shown so viscerally the utter pain that can accompany the bliss of creating good music.” – Jocelyn Noveck, Associated Press

“Surprising, intoxicating, euphoric and will undoubtedly be the greatest jazz drumming movie you see all year.” – Rosie Fletcher, Total Film

“Andrew’s story breathes and moves like a song — a jazz number, naturally — which renders every turn, reveal, and twist of perspective a tremendous showstopper.” – Michael Arbeiter, Hollywood.com

“Hands down the most exhilarating and intense film of the year. Mesmerising. Miles Teller & J.K. Simmons give Oscar calibre performances. Whiplash is dynamite!” – Aaron Rowlands, The Lowdown Under

Plagued by the failed writing career of his father, Andrew hungers day and night to become one of the greats.
