From wailing weirdos to stuttering staccatos FOX’s AMERICAN IDOL started a global phenomenon and a slew of copycat shows (America’s Got Talent, The Voice) that told people if you think you can sing then come on down and be judged by celebrity musicians or industry pundits.
Well AMERICAN IDOL the show has slowly been falling in the ratings and this years season of 2013 fell 25% year on year as rival show THE VOICE streaked ahead. This has caused the property owners to go through a major rethink as with headliners like Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson unable to gain viewer ground the show is going back to the drawing board.
THE WRAP have reported that all 4 judges have been removed from the line up for the next season and that the show itself will be getting a makeover. Nigel Lythgoe, the shows longtime serving executive producer, has also been given the boot and the only one staying on is host Ryan Seacrest.
The Australian version of the show lasted 7 seasons before it got axed due to terrible ratings and the fact that untrained Aussie singers sound like drunk slags at an RSL karaoke night.
