Al Pacino Leaves ‘Despicable Me 2’ Over ‘Creative Differences’

despicable-me-2-posterTalk about jumping ship right on the verge of release. The one and only Al Pacino has left Universal’s sequel to the mega hit DESPICABLE ME with the studio saying ‘creative differences’ being the cause.

“Over the production of Despicable Me 2, there were creative differences between us and Al Pacino, who had been cast as the voice of Eduardo in the film. We have mutually decided with Al to replace the voice of Eduardo with a new actor. Universal and Illumination thank Al for his many contributions to the process and look forward to a new actor bringing this memorable character to the screen upon its release this summer.” – Deadline

Pacino had been working on the film for quite some time so to depart it this late in the game is an odd thing to have happen. Its a pity too as the screen legend hasn’t had a hit in a long time and given how big this puppy is going to be you’d think ‘grin and bear it’ would’ve been applied.

No news as to who will replace the character voice of EDUARDO as yet.

3D DESPICABLE ME 2 releases in AUSTRALIA on JUNE 20, 2013 through UNIVERSAL PICTURES
