There’s big bikkies in the world of animation – the family market is the biggest global box office generator of any genre of film and the Warner Bros stable has been pretty quiet in the last decade on that front. With THE LEGO MOVIE and STORK on the slate for this year and next the WB are on the move.
With a mantra to produce 1 high end animated title a year, WARNER BROS has assembled a bevy of talent to oversee and develop projects for the studio to produce. In their group the WB have enlisted Nicholas Stoller (The Muppets), Phil Lord (The Lego Movie), Chris Miller (The Lego Movie), Glen Ficarra (Crazy Stupid Love), Jared Stern (Mr Popper’s Penguins) and John Requa (Crazy Stupid Love) to identify, assess and model new projects.
The studio aren’t launching a dedicated animation label as such but you can expect a lot more colourful offerings coming from WARNER BROS in the years to come!
