Low Budget Chinese Film ‘Lost In Thailand’ Kicking Ass At The Chinese Box Office!

Lost In ThailandIn a year where the Chinese Box Office has been dominated by foreign product (namely U.S.) this months release of local comedy LOST IN THAILAND has given the domestic industry a surge by cracking some pretty hefty records.

On December 12, when the film opened, it debuted with $6.26m, which is more than double its reported budget of $3.1m, setting a box office record for a Wednesday opening in China. On December 15, Saturday, it raked in $14.9m in a single day smashing the single day grossing record and also shattered the # sessions of a film in one day when it ran 33,000 times. (Holy sh*t that’s a lot of sessions!)

My thanks to Deadline for the heads up!
