Terrence Malick is an auteur of special regard. His films tend to polarise audiences not so much for damning or controversial reasons but more for his slow burn, meandering style. His use of natural light and more meditative direction can divide audiences but I, for one, have been a big Malick fan since BADLANDS. His other films include THE THIN RED LINE, THE NEW WORLD & THE TREE OF LIFE. The one thing the film maker can boast about is the sort of casts he gets, everyone clammers to work with him.
His new film TO THE WONDER sees Ben Affleck, Olga Kurylenko and Rachel McAdams involved in a love triangle. Javier Bardem plays a priest struggling with his faith. The film has played Venice Film Festival where it divided audiences (in true Malick style).
