Aza’s 3 Word Review – 3D Wreck-It Ralph – Yay! Yay! Yay!

wreckit_ralph_ver10I’m a sucker for animated movies and I’m an even bigger sucker for animated movies that cater for everybody – adults and kids – and WRECK IT RALPH does just that. I remember back about 6 months when speaking with industry people here in Aus and even then I was saying ‘watch out for WRECK IT RALPH’ as it’s a 4 quadrant picture not a kids movie. By that I mean it plays to everybody. People were like “Nah, no way, THE HOBBIT will kick its ass’ etc etc… And then the U.S. reviews hit and shortly after the U.S. Box Office Hit. (Currently $170m  and still going)…

I’m not going to give the story away – whilst is essentially a riff on the TOY STORY concept – but this charming, funny, tongue in cheek family adventure is loaded with references to classic games, pop culture and is all wrapped up in that warm fuzzy bow that Disney animation nails nearly every time. Bonuses are the sensational voice work from John C. Reilly (Wreck It Ralph) which gives the character so much more depth and pathos than I ever expected and when he’s bouncing off Sarah Silverman (Vanellope) it really fires.

I loved this. Don’t miss it – I don’t care how old you are – you’ll get a real kick out of WRECK-IT RALPH and believe me this puppy is gonna make THE HOBBIT work for its money.

3D WRECK-IT RALPH releases on DECEMBER 26, 2012 in AUSTRALIA through WALT DISNEY MOTION PICTURE STUDIOS
