U.S. Box Office Weekend Round Up September 21 – 23, 2012 – End Of Watch Emerges As The Winner!

In a weekend with 4 wide openers (End Of Watch, The House At The End Of The Street, Trouble With The Curve, Dredd 3d) it was all lining up to be a neck and neck battle for supremacy for 3 of them. It still was a very soft weekend at the U.S. box office and the biggest casualty was DREDD 3D. DREDD couldn’t knock over Rezzo in its 2nd week and came in 6th with a very disappointing $6.3m. The expansion of THE MASTER was a positive one with a nice $5m cume and TROUBLE WITH THE CURVE was solid, if a little soft, for an Eastwood starter.

The other fun little tidbit – this would have to be the first film ever to have an 82 year old actor as the headline cast member to open wide. Figures from Deadline/Indiewire.
