So What’s Happening With ‘The Girl Who Played With Fire’?

Rooney Mara gets nominated for best actress in THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO remake, David Fincher gets lauded again and although the reviews were all pretty much spectacular the films excessive running time and rather expensive budget made its domestic performance more modest than expected.

Then there was the clashes between David Fincher & Scott Rudin and David Fincher & Sony that were widely publicised.

Bottom line is these are very expensive films to make and there’s no guarantees that Fincher is going to return. Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig are both attached for the sequels (contractually) – so they’re in and Steve Zallain is currently tinkering his script for the sequel. With that said it means that we won’t see the film in 2013 – there’s no production schedule currently on the cards at Sony – and the earliest we’re looking to see a sequel will be 2014 or, most likely, 2015.

If you haven’t seen Finchers THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO you really should – it is stunning. So are the Swedish originals.
