Aza’s 2 Line Review – Grizzly Man (2005) – A Masterpiece. A Spectacular, Faultless Documentary.

Werner Herzog. It’s a name once you hear it means you’re in for something special. He’s the most prolific film maker in the world. GRIZZLY MAN was the best reviewed film of 2005 (with the #2 film being Ang Lee’s BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN) and it’s not hard to see why.

Herzog explores the life of Timothy Treadwell, a man who lived with Canadian bears for 13 summers, using Treadwell’s personal films and piecing together his life through interviewing his friends and family – Herzog respectfully paints the picture of a man who let the line between man and nature blur who he was.

This is a documentary not to be missed – it’s evocative, passionate, dignified and beguiling. GRIZZLY MAN is a magnificent film.
