Aussie Production Update – Film & TV Productions in 2012

GO AUSSIE GO! Here’s an update on all things AUSTRALIAN FILM currently on the go, these are either in development, in pre-production, shooting or in post production, my thanks to if.com.au for the synopses:

THE ROCKET

Synopsis: A boy who is believed to bring bad luck to everyone around him leads his family and a couple of ragged misfits through Laos to find a new home. After a calamity-filled journey, to prove he’s not cursed he builds a giant rocket to enter the most lucrative but dangerous competition of the year: the Rocket Festival

JOHNNY SWADE

Synopsis: In order to save his home, Johnny Swade together with his friends, Tim, Abby, Kelly and Ariel are on a riveting journey to expose the secret dealings of a tyrant, Henry Wilmont. In pursuit of these students to prevent Wilmont’s dealings exposed are his henchmen. Throughout this gripping adventure, we will learn a great deal about these five characters through their friendships, aspirations and heroics.

NEXT STOP, HOLLYWOOD – TV Series

Synopsis: Every year another Aussie actor makes it big on American screens. Who will be the next of our homegrown actors to become a Hollywood star?

Synopsis: The story of two brothers who have created a fertiliser made up of car crash victims

Synopsis: Every prison has a story. Sometimes it’s an innocent man. Sometimes it’s an incredible escape. And sometimes it’s something so strange and powerful that it could never have happened anywhere else

WENTWORTH – TV Series

Synopsis: Set in the present, the show will begin with central character Bea Smith’s early days in prison. The storylines will include some of the original inmates and staff of the Wentworth Detention Centre as well as characters, especially developed for the new series.

ACCORDING TO BEN ADAMS

ONE EYED GIRL

Synopsis: A fast-paced thriller about a psychiatrist who falls in love with a beautiful teenage girl from a Doomsday cult.

AFTER SIX FOUR – Online Interactive Documentary

Synopsis: After Six-Four is an online, interactive documentary that weaves together the stories of June 4 Tiananmen Square protest refugees and post-Tiananmen youth who represent the new face of modern China, to explore both the personal impact of the event and the subsequent evolution of one of the world’s most powerful nations

ALI’S WEDDING 

Synopsis: An Australia-set Muslim romantic comedy about a boy who agrees to an arranged marriage although he is in love with somebody else.

THE DRESSMAKER

Synopsis: Set in the 1950s, a bittersweet tragi-comedy about a glamorous woman who returns, after many years in Europe, to her small home town in rural Australia in order to right some wrongs from the past. When Tilly comes home she not only heals her ailing mother, but with her sewing machine, and haute couture style, transforms the women of the town in such a way that she gets sweet revenge on those who did her wrong. She also falls unexpectedly in love, which leads to her greatest loss and her most destructive deed. Based on Rosalie Ham’s best selling novel of the same title

Synopsis: Almost French tells of an Australian journalist, Sarah, who leaves her family, home and job in Australia for Frenchman Frederic. Then reality hits.
