SCREAM 4 wasn’t exactly the box office giant reboot that everyone expected it would be but that won’t stop the franchise from continuing with a 5th instalment planned. Wes Craven is aboard, as is Harvey Weinstein but series creator Kevin Williamson is definitely not attached. Or, in his words:

Asked by Assignment X about the project, screenwriter Kevin Williamson gave a matter-of-fact response: “I don’t know. I’m not doing it.” – slashfilm.com

It’s no secret that the original script Kevin turned in for SCREAM 4 was doctored by part 3 writer (and franchise ruiner) Ehren Kruger (Scream 3, Transformers 2, Transformers 3) and word on the street is the film barely resembles any elements of the Williamson script.

From what I have learned about the original treatment of SCREAM 4 was that it would be referential to the torture porn / found footage aspects of modern horror films (which is simplistically handled in the film) and was a lot more brutal and less outlandish as the finished product.

If only it was possible to get a hold of the original SCREAM 4 script and check it out.

… Anyways,  SCREAM 5 will happen – pray they hire a decent writer and Ehren Kruger isn’t brought anywhere near the project!
