Aza’s 2 Line Review – The Grey – Carnahan’s Best Since NARC. The Biggest Surprise Of 2012 So Far!

THE GREY will go down as one of the biggest surprises of 2012. Yes its man vs beast on the top level, but really this movie has a much deeper psychological depth to it. There’s a lot going on here – meditations on death, mortality and masculinity set against the reality that mother nature is a far superior being than we humans crown ourselves.

Liam Neeson is in top form as the lead, as he not only delivers the physical (and he gets better and better at it with each film) but he nails the psychological.. The very early sequence on the plane before the crash is a perfect vignette of this – a man at odds with his life and with himself.

This is a big screen entertainment that is surprisingly cerebral if you go digging into it. The film is also a balls out action thriller as well and gladly it works on both levels.

Joe Carnahan (The A-Team, Narc) has never been better or more confident as a director and you really shouldn’t miss this.

THE GREY is in cinemas everywhere NOW through ICON FILM DISTRIBUTION.
