Aza’s 2 Line Review – A Dangerous Method – Cronenberg, Fassbender, Mortensen & Knightley At Their Best. An Assured Drama Told With Intelligence & Cinematic Discipline!

Man can David Cronenberg just keep making movies?!? Over his extraordinary almost 50 years in the industry he has delivered some truly unique and challenging films. One of the rare film makers who used the medium to exercise social commentary, metaphorical meaning and philosophical debate – Cronenberg is an auteur of cinema whose works will be debated and revered for years to come.

Watching his movies, Cronenberg’s discipline in honing his skills is evident as each film passes till we get to today and his latest production A DANGEROUS METHOD. A biographical film about the relationship between Carl Jung, Sabina Spielrein and Sigmund Freud which results in the birth of pscyhoanalysis – A DANGEROUS METHOD showcases Cronenberg at his very best.

This is a supremely intelligent, disciplined and thought provoking drama that solicits career bests from all players involved. I couldn’t take my eyes off it and I loved that the screenplay doesn’t dumb down its topic or its characters – it demands your full attention. If you’re after some conversation starting meaty drama don’t look past this one – it’s a cracker and it’s a shining example of a film maker coming into his own.

Bravo!
