Aza’s 2 Line Review – The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo – Was There Ever Any Doubt? David Fincher Is A God!

I’m a purist and I should be damned for ever thinking that this flick wouldn’t live up to the exceptional Swedish film. It does and then some. From the spectacular nod to 007 in the opening credits to the artic like setting in Hedestat, Sweden David Fincher once again proves why he’s the most visually stylistic film maker in Hollywood today. This film is icily beautiful to look at, with ‘The Social Network’ duo of Atticus Ross and Trent Reznor doing the minimalistic score, populated with a wall of pedigree actors all on fire.

So all eyes really fall on Rooney Mara in this – does she live up to the breakout Noomi Rapace version of Lisbeth Salander? Yes. In Spades. You get more of Lisbeth in this, a closer representation to the novel and a better experience of just how clever she really is. Daniel Craig is solid as Mickael and Stellan Skarsgard nails Martin to a tee.

Yeah it’s longer and it’s epilogue will test thriller fans, but its beautifully executed and done in the hands of a master and shouldn’t be missed on the big screen.
