I don’t know whether I am terrified or excited, a little from column A and a little from column B, as Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas is without doubt my favourite film of all time. So the news that it’s being developed into a TV series comes with reserved elation but here’s the good news. The show is being championed by AMC (Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, The Killing), Irwin Winkler (Producer ‘Goodfellas’), Nicholas Pileggi (The author of ‘Wiseguy’, the novel on which the film is based and writer of the screenplay) and Jorge Zamacona (Homicide: Life On The Streets). All the keys bar Martin Scorsese are in place to bring to the box a cracking good series.
GOODFELLAS tells the true story Henry Hill and his rise in the Lucchese Crime Family in the 1960’s-1980’s. Henry went into witness protection and in doing so brought down an entire Mafia legacy. The 6 time Oscar nominated film, which earned Joe Pesci a best supporting actor nod, is a cinematic classic and shouldn’t be missed.
