Aza’s 2 Line Review – Tyrannosaur – A Sledgehammer Of A Film. Considine, Mullan, Colman & Marsan Deliver Career Bests.

Paddy Considines stunning first directorial effort (he also wrote the film) is an unrelenting drama of middle aged people with absolutely shattered souls. Peter Mullan turns in the best performance of his career as the embittered, rage fuelled Joseph – a loner seeking beauty and a sense of forgiveness. Olivia Colman is an absolute knock out as Hannah – a woman trapped in a situation seemingly inescapable. Eddie Marsan also delivers a polarizing turn in the most challenging role of his career.

This is an unrelenting drama, it’s in your face, has all the kick in the guts power that Lee Tamahori’s “Once Were Warriors” does and doesn’t hold back on putting you right in the middle of a sea of broken people. Powerhouse film making at its best.

TYRANNOSAUR is being released in AUSTRALIA through MADMAN ENTERTAINMENT.
